Putin’s Cat and Mouse game with Trump

Trump wants to preserve the “mighty US dollar” whereas Putin’s secret agenda is to destroy the “mighty US dollar” by replacing it with another currency – either with a gold-backed ruble (Russia has the world’s largest gold reserves, as reported in my memoir “For the Love of Russian Gold”, to be released by Koehler Books on 15 April 2025)  or the Chinese Yuan, and ultimately a new BRICS currency.  Putin has even created a mock-up of a BRICS banknote.  The yuan is already being used in some transactions, as when Russia was excluded from the SWIFT system, the Asian giant allowed Russia, its biggest trading partner, to trade in yuan, thus trying to strengthen its economy against the US.

The US dollar has dominated the world since 1944 when it first became the standard currency for international transactions, forcing all countries to convert their local currency to US dollars to trade.

Trump hates the idea of alternative currencies as proposed by BRICS nations.  Since 2011, Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa have been members of the BRICS. This year, in the bloc's first expansion in over a decade, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia and Egypt were officially accepted. Thirty-four other countries also want to join the group. The member countries today represent 46% of the world's population and their combined GDP is already greater than that of the traditional Western powers, so Trump knows this is a real threat to USA.

Trump recently said, “We require a commitment from these countries that they will neither create a new BRICS currency nor back any other currency to replace the mighty US dollar or they will face 100% tariffs and should expect to say goodbye to selling into the wonderful US economy. They can go find another s u c k e r."

Yesterday Trump was pissed off at Putin whom he claims is “dragging his feet” by not agreeing to an instant ceasefire, but he also was furious with Zelenskyy for reneging on the US-Ukraine mineral’s deal and threatening big repercussions against Ukraine.  So, he gently berates Putin but attacks Zelenskyy - again.  I bet when this is all over, Putin will get exactly what he wants.
