Trump is pissed at Putin – a lover’s tiff

Russia has drafted a memorandum outlining its terms to end the war. Putin seems to be ready to make peace but not at any price. Zelensky has accused Putin of stalling while Russian troops advance in eastern Ukraine. Trump’s response was, “Everything out of Zelensky’s mouth causes problems. It has to stop.”
It has been revealed that Putin wants a written pledge by major Western powers not to expand the NATO alliance eastwards – which in effect rules out NATA membership for Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and other former Soviet republics.
Other items on Putin’s wish list include Ukraine’s neutrality, lifting of some Western sanctions, unfreezing Russian sovereign assets in the West, and protection for Russians in Ukraine.
Zelensky however has repeatedly said Ukraine aspires to join the NATO alliance. He says it needs the West to give it a strong security guarantee that Russia won’t attack again.
So what game is Putin currently playing? I believe he wants to piss off Trump to the point that America withdraws from the peace negotiations and abandons Ukraine. No doubt he will then “make up” with Trump behind the scenes.
